Why have a birth "team?"
Professional & continuous Support matters!
Doula is a word derived from Greek origins that loosely translates to“a woman who serves.” Today, a doula refers to a labor companion - a trained professional who will provide the emotional, physical and informational support before, during and after childbirth. A doula does not support medical needs during labor, but research shows that women need fewer medical interventions when they have a doula by their side.
Check out these statistics for women who utilized doulas as a member of their birth team:
* Overall, doulas decreased
+cesarean rate by 50%
+ the length of labor by 25%
+ the use of pitocin by 40%
+ the request for epidurals by 60%
The evidence is clear...doulas make a difference and building the right support team can profoundly impact birth experiences. Check out our team profiles to find the perfect doula pair to support your family.

Learn about the world renowned hypnobirthing method from our certified hynobirthing instructor.
Hypnobirthing is a style of childbirth education that teaches moms to channel a deeper level of consciousness when they are in labor. They feel more relaxed and are able to experience labor contractions as surges of pressure instead of being overwhelmed by fear and pain. We are delighted that the valley's only certified Hynobirthing instructor, Deborah Eacock, agreed to be a member of the Freno Birth Collective. You can read more about Hynobirthing here and check out Deborah's class availability here.
